The Charles M. Shaffer Jr. Distinguished Fellow in Philanthropy Fund, established in honor of a late Carolina alumnus and philanthropist, will support the work of the Philosophy, Politics and Economics Program in pursuit of giving back.

Coming to Carolina was an easy decision for Bill Farthing ’70 (J.D. ’74). Almost 60 years later, it was another easy decision to give back to the place where he spent his first four years at UNC: the department of religious studies.

The southern string band Mipso, made up of 2013 UNC alums Joseph Terrell on guitar, Jacob Sharp on mandolin and Wood Robinson on double bass, are going to be putting a lot of miles on their Subaru this spring.
