Letter From the Dean

On March 1, 2020, I was named dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, after serving a year as interim dean. I had no idea how radically the world would shift before the month was even over.

When Maury Hanson died at age 100 last spring, he bequeathed an unrestricted planned gift to the department of classics and to University Libraries.

"It was a very pleasant surprise," said Donald Haggis, professor and chair of the classics department. “This comes as a welcome gift for a number of reasons.”
